The congregation of Woodstock FUMC
I pray that you and your family are doing well in this crisis.
Sunday, May 24 is Memorial Day Sunday. Although we cannot have a service and remember those who served our county together in our service, please have a moment to remember and honor those soldiers who bravely served our country during Sunday service (Jason Princer will preach a sermon for Sunday service) at your home.
As pastor of Woodstock FUMC, I pray everyday for you and business. I know many families and businesses are suffering from lock-down due to the corona virus. I really hope that the problem will be solved soon so that we including all the businesses and our church can go back to a normal life. As the lock-down and crisis go longer, church finance situation is getting worse. Last week offering was the worst week since the lock-down started. I understand financially you also suffer as well. Please pray for our church and if you can, please send your offering to church so that our church can pay the bills and do the ministry of Jesus to our community.
The first Sunday of June is the Sunday that we do our communion. If our conference allows us to reopen our church, I would like to do communion together with keeping social distance, but I am not sure that we can reopen our church by the Sunday. As a result, as the same as the last month, I will deliver the consecrated individually wrapped communion element to your home. If we can reopen our church, then I will let you know how we would do, otherwise if you would like to have communion, please let church office know by Sunday, June 7.
Please keep those brothers and sisters in your prayer: Jim Locke, Pete Lockinger, Dorothy Eckert, Barbara Caroll, Hazel Kniebusch, Becky Pender, Scott Mishler, Ron Pieroni, and all people suffer from the COVID-19.
Sally Dyck, the Bishop of Northern Illinois Conference recently sent out a message to every UM local church and its congregation regarding lock-down and reopen church. I will attach the Bishop message, please read it. Bishop_May_22_response
