Prayer Shawls

Over the centuries, shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace and spiritual sustenance.  Prayer Shawl Ministries began in 1998.  Our ministry began several years ago when 4 – 5 of us met for the first time.  Our members have met the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, to pray, knit and crochet shawls or lap robes. We are part of a grass-roots movement that has become an international cause with these items given freely to those in need of comfort, be it a death, accident, or just the troubles and cares of the world that seem too hard to bear.

Our ministry’s message of caring is simple, universal, and enduring.  We have seen that the making and presentation of a simple shawl or lap robe enriches the giver as well as the recipient. As they wrap their shawls/lap robes around themselves, our hope is that they feel and know that God’s love surrounds them and that He’s always there. Come join us, we have a lot of yarn!
